In the Spotlight ~ 'Red is for love'

Gosh!! Its February already... We are now a month into 2012...wow! That was quick...

Now.. I'll be honest... this is a bit of a confused post... I'm not sure what to do with 'in the spotlight' series.. Should these be topic driven... like the earlier ones we did... ie Green Thumb Dekor, a Thousand Words... so you can interpret the topic in any which way...

Or would you like these to be Colours specific... ie.. we pick a colour for the month and focus on things around the house in that colour... and the importance of that colour in our lives and homes..

What say??

Anyway, last weekend, the girls and I talked about 'love'.. and everything they love, people they love, hearts and fairies.. ... etc.. etc..

While Sims and I were decided on doing up a table ... Yva used her skills and made a heart out of the petals on the table... I thought it was cute..

These girls.. they grow up too fast.. *sigh*

So go on and link in... The 'Red is for love' is open all of February... and obviously will be focussing on the word 'love'... and the colour 'red'... Feel free to link in anything within these two parameters... I can't wait to see how creative you can get...

Grab the button now.. and do a quick post.. *smiles*

January in review!

Hey hey! I can hardly believe the first month of the year is DONE. I know I say that every month, but for real. It’s crazy. I’m back with another month in review for January! I kinda skipped over December, just because I was a little tired of looking at Christmas decor by the 31st. (Remind me of that come September when I’m chomping at the bit for Christmas to come.) I started off the month

Making the Most of Small, Unused Spaces in Your Home

I love the idea of discovering new, unused spaces in your home and making them functional (and pretty).  This will be especially true as we go forward settling into our home that we bought with three kids but will raise five in, instead.  I’m not a big fan of unused spaces, which is a good thing—since we’ll need every square inch.

Here’s an example in our last home.  There was no mudroom but an abundance of backpacks and jackets.  So, we used this small hallway by the back door to serve as a drop off point for everybody’s stuff and I added the chalkboard for notes, messages, etc.  I’m working on a similar set up in our house now.

Here are some other great examples of how you can take a small, unused space and make it a functioning part of your home:

If you visit

Helloooo there! Hope you had a wonderful weekend! Today I’m going to brag on my hometown a bit…cause this is the biggest week of the year for us here in Indianapolis. You may have heard of a little thing called the Super Bowl? ;) I’m a born and bred Hoosier and I SO love this state. I think the general thought when people think of Indy is that it’s may not have much to offer, but oh ho ho,

Pretty work spaces

Well happy Friday and weekend to YOU!! I gotta say, your responses to my last post made me feel SO MUCH better. I certainly do not feel alone, especially since so many of you feel the way I do. There were SO many great suggestions (yes, I read every comment) and a couple of you mentioned the Sleep Cycle app on the iphone. I had heard of it before and decided to give it a try. You see, I don’

A Fun Day Trip

Earlier this week, I spent a day in Greensboro, NC, helping MirrorMate with a photoshoot to showcase some of their frame styles for their website and print ads.  (You may remember I blogged about this product here.)

It was a lot of fun seeing the process of how they made this bathroom look magazine-worthy with some great lighting and styling.

This specific shot was for their Arcadia frame, and the bathroom was one of my favorites:

To top off the day, I had the chance to meet up with Rene of Cottage and Vine for dinner.  It’s so fun to hang out with someone who understands all of my crazy blogger talk :)  She is even more adorable in person and doesn’t look close to being old enough to have two teenage sons.
