Last Weekly Story

Hello my lovelies... this is the last weekly story for the year... 

November & then December...  are going to be super busy months at work, at home with the festive season, our annual guests, travel plans, school, and the numerous other things that happen during this time of the year... So I'm going to take an early blog break... and be back in January... 

Saying that from now until the first week of December, I've got some posts scheduled for you that have been waiting for a while... two home tours, a few artists features, and even a baby shower... So do come back and see what happening till December at least... 

And here is what we did to our IKEA coasters for Diwali... 

all you need is a little bit of glue... and then some glitter... and the sad and boring coaster become all festive...

an inspired Rangoli

Inspired by Bhupali's Up-cycled DIY Rangoli, and making good use of one free afternoon, the girlies and I tried our hands and up-cycling cardboard to make rangoli... and here is the outcome... 

There was absolutely no planning... so we figured we didn't have any sequences or pretty colours to use at home... *sigh*.. 

The girls randomly painted anything that came to their minds... and used glitter glue... to make some of it look pretty... 

Sims even tried a warli rangoli... but it didn't turn out the way she was expecting it to... so I haven't posted it here... *smiles*

and then they decided to decorate the floors with this... 

all in all... it did look pretty... 

so.. thank you Bhupali... for such an awesome inspiration... *smiles*

I simply love the festive season... such pretty colours... so many hues.... and shades... *sigh*

Tea-light experiments

So last weekend... when we (the girlies & I) were doing nothing... this was my attempt at teaching them decoupage... we made a few modpodged doily tea-light holders... 

They didn't turn out the way I was expecting them to... What do you think?

Rather.. I think.. we didn't do a neat job... LOL

Since those failed so miserably.... we dressed them up with cloth or net that was lying around the house... and here is how dressy they looked... 

Our guests were amazed at the outcome of the one below... The reflections on the wall looked stunning... or atleast I thought so... *smiles*

DIY Diwali diyas

You've seen Bhupali's DIY Rangolis... and today, she shares with us, DIY tea light holders... just in time for the festive season...

I had bought some oat cookies for my daughter and found this packing material inside it.

The moment I saw it I decided to reuse and recycle it as I have done it earlier with other waste boxes and packing material.

I have used moulding clay which I got from an Art shop in Singapore and white acrylic colour.

Now isn't that awesome?? Tell me what you think?

DIY Rangoli

Now that's what I truly like about you (yes.. YOU... all those who read CD)... You are so super creative... wow!! Im so impressed!!

Today ... in time for Diwali... she shows us how to make 'recycled rangoli'

A little about Bhupali...

I am Bhupali Joshi a microbiologist but now a full time Homemaker. I enjoy and utilize my time with my daughter and creating some art stuff.

While discussing about 3 R's i.e. reuse,reduce and recycle with my daughter I thought of this and the result was a beautiful hand-painted portable rangoli!!!

I got a new set of bowls few months back with a packing material which I converted into rangoli patterns.

Its as simple as that... and I'm sure you can try it too... go on and make some rangolis.. and don't forget to share your pics with me... on coloursdekor@gmail.com

I am so excited to share my sparkles with Colours Dekor readers, Diwali to me brings about the inner child in me, the lights, the fireworks, the food, the friends all of it makes it so much special and beautiful. I love jewellery too and festive season in the best time to bring out the finery.
