My Top Ten Tools

Hey all! How are ya? Hope you had a wonderful weekend my peeps! We stayed with my sis this weekend cause the FLOORS ARE DONE! I was pleasantly surprised late late week when our flooring guy said he would work through the weekend to get them finished up. To say I’m thrilled is the understatement of the century. :) Hopefully by the end of the day tomorrow the baseboards will be painted, the

DIY or DI-Buy?

Hey hey! How was your weekend?! We had a great one! I worked on a project I’ve been wanting to try for awhile now. Our backyard redo is finally finishing up this week…and it’s been a long time coming. :) The landscaper and his team have done an incredible job and stayed right on track, but we’ve had many, MANY issues with the deck and staining it (which I’ll tell you about soon) and it’s pushed

Caulk and Spackle, my BFFs

Helloooo there! Our gorgeous week of weather continues here, but I've been inside addressing a project that I’ve been avoiding for months. It’s the not-so-fun stuff of room redos that stall me out. I’d rather cut and install molding then do the finishing work – the caulking and spackling and sanding. UGH. These are the days I wish I hired out. :) I haven’t touched the office redo in such

How to install new door knobs

Wellllll…it only took a year. (I say that a lot don’t I? It only took a month…six months…a year.) And I’m still not completely done. But 98 percent of our doors are rid of their look-away-or-the-shiny-will-blind-you brassiness. WHOO!! There’s a few reasons it’s taken so long. First, the order was messed up back when I ordered in February (of 2010!). Second, uhhh…I dunno why. I get easily

I love my Dremel

Howdy! Remember when I told you I got a fun new tool, and that tool was the Dremel Multi-Max? (Salivating.) Well, I told you I’d share the ways I’ve found to use it, and I found some GOOD ones. :) The tool came with three attachments – two cutting blades and a sander. It was super easy to put them on – just loosen the nut, fit the attachment in and tighten: I started with this one:

Mama’s got a brand new tool

Well hello! I’m so glad you like my little memo board as much as I do – totally worth the eight month wait, eh? You may know by now I’m a tool FREAK. I may have a few of them. Alright…A LOT of them. I have something like 35 screwdrivers – because you never know just the one you’re going to need. I’ve gotten rid of most of the extra STUFF around here lately…but my tools stay. Even the extra 34

Tool School: The drill

Well, I thought it was high time I had a “Tool School” session – especially since I said I would do at least one a month, starting in January. ;) Oops! I’m starting with the drill because it is hands down the one tool I could not live without. I use my drill numerous times a week for something or another. I even stopped keeping it in the basement because I was going down there all. the. time. to
