Changes in the master

Hello and good morning and Monday to you! Hope you had a lovely weekend! The sun is just starting to peek out here and we have progress happening in basement bathroom as I write. We may have a potty down there by the end of the week! WHOO. HOO! :) Today I’m sharing a a few changes I made to the master bedroom. I started these projects last weekend and finished up a few little things yesterday.

Non-resolutions for 2013

So, here’s the thing -- I don’t do resolutions. Don’t think I’ve ever made one. I just think they set you up for weird pressure and then so often disappointment. If I want to do something to better myself or change how I behave, I just do it. If I’m serious enough about it, I succeed. If not, well, then I don’t beat myself up. I’m also not a big goal person. Like, I don’t have a bucket list. I

A Glimpse at Our Master Bedroom

Our room isn’t close to being finished, but I thought you might like seeing how our walls turned out after going white.  I know you like seeing pretty pictures but this is how we’ve been living while I contemplated painting it blue vs. white:

See, it’s so bad that I didn’t even feel the need to make my bed for you. .  .

After deciding it would be way too much blue, we got ambitious and painted the room a soft white:

This was just a quick picture I snapped.  I need to work on the bedding and my plan is to recover the ottoman in this gold Ikat fabric that has been draped over it for the last month (well, maybe longer).  Unfortunately, I don’t have a source for the fabric. . . I bought it from a blogger who was selling some of her extras.  The mirror is the same one we had over the mantle in our last family room.

We kept the trim the same and painted the walls this color:

I love it.  In fact, I wouldn’t mind if the rest of my house was painted the same shade.

I wanted our room to have a completely different feel than our last house, but I’m obviously working with the same furniture and white bedding, for the most part. . . .

So, that’s where it is now.  There are other plans for this room that I’ll be sharing with you  next week.

Master Bedroom Redo: Part Two

Hey hey!! Hope you had a wonderful weekend and a lovely Father’s Day. I finished up some changes to the master bedroom and I LOVE how it’s turning out. Yes…the master bedroom. The one I started redoing almost a year ago? Remember that one? I’ve told you before it takes me a while…and this room is no different. I’ve made some changes over the past few months and I’m SO happy with how it’s

Before and After Party: A favorite!

Hello all! It’s time for the next Before and After Party! Whoot! This time I’m showing you an oldie (it’s been done for a few years now) but it’s one of my very, very favorite transformations in our house. LOVE. We have a fireplace in our bedroom, and yes, it’s fanfreakingtastic. Really. It was all hubby’s idea. The day we decided to add it in to our house plans, I was huddled in a corner,

Tricky Tricky! (Window treatments)

Howdy! I still haven’t heard from two of the winners of the HomeGoods cards -- Cammy and Stephanie, holla at me! So, remember when I showed you the start of our bedroom redo a couple of months ago? Remember the purple drapes?: Oh my. They were looking pretty sad. They were left over from the room before…and before. :) But obviously it was time for them to go. Then one of my lovely readers

Welcome to Crazy Town

First of all, my husband is a SAINT. Really. On any given day when I’m working on a project, he comes home to my messes, the house torn apart and everything looking different than it did when he left in the morning. When he takes business trips for days at a time – forget about it. I think he wonders if he’ll even come home to the same house. He’s been dealing with my DOCD/DADD (put the “

Before and After Party: Buh bye ceiling fan

Hello there! Welcome to the October Before and After Par-tay! So…I got nothin’ against ceiling fans. Really. We have three of them in our house. Well – now two. :) We’ve always had one in our bedroom -- we hand picked it when we built the house: And pretty much since the first week we lived here, I’ve wanted to take it down. :) We used to use it fairly often, but over the past few years,

Master bedroom redo: Part one

I know I promised a post about the NYC trip today, but I’m waiting on everyone else to post about it so I can copy all their pictures. ;) That’s how I roll. So…you may or may not remember my post a couple of months ago about our bed, and why it made me cry I never made it. I told you then I was on a search for new bedding…and I found it, over time. I big fat LOVE IT. And oh yeah – IT FITS

How to make a bed

I’ve mentioned before that our bed is unmade about 99.99999 percent of the time. I just don’t do it. I don’t make beds. It’s kind of like the movie Groundhog’s Day to me – I mean, why go through all that just to have it messed up again in a few hours? YES, I know it’s more than a few. Maybe more like twelve. Whatever. But when I do make it, I find it to be really, really lovely. A made bed

The master bedroom is done!! Pretty much. Almost. Close.

I have been working on our master bedroom for a few months and finished it a couple weeks ago. I redecorated the entire room with less than $350! We are thrilled with how it turned out. There are only a few tweaks left -- soon I hope to splurge on a big comfy chaise near the fireplace. I plan to add molding to the large wall above the fireplace and would love to have the ceiling painted (a couple
