A little bit of Blue! - Baby Shower Decor

'Babies are such a nice way to start people.'

- Don Herold.

A good friend of mine is gloriously pregnant and a few of us got together to throw her a baby shower, just before she left to her home town for the delivery. We had a great time planning it, buying decorations, researching games, taking photographs - So much fun!

Here are a few pictures of our special day and the decor that went into it.

All the decor was as blue as could be because surprise, surprise; she's got a little gentleman on the way!

You can find beautiful specialized decorations for your blue or pink celebrations, all at your nearest party store, but be warned - you'll want to buy everything you see 'coz it's all so adorable!

These decor pieces were simple, cheap and super cute. We stuck these photo paper baby rattles all over the walls and they brightened up every corner!

I absolutely loved these! They're called 'danglers' and true to their name, they 'dangle' from the wall with little baby feet hanging from the bottom - isn't it precious?!

We planned the shower at the last minute, so we had to come up with a few quick, easily available decor options. We found these little plates, especially for baby showers and they doubled as wall decor - our mommy to be loved them and wanted to take a few home as well!

And this was our photo spot. *smiles*

It was beautifully framed with balloons and the little backdrop teddy on the wall.

We posed and laughed and struggled to all fit into one frame. So simple, but so special, y'know?

Another important part of a baby shower and one which can pull out all the 'aawws' and 'aahhss' is the cake or little munches you serve. We enlisted the services of a fantastic local home baker 'Tachez' and this is the gorgeousness he prepared for us.

These were our baby jumper biscuit give-aways. We had them in different colours and designs; all our guests loved them and secretly whispered how they wanted a few more!

And here are our little baby shower cupcakes!! The cutest, yummiest cuppies EVER.

And finally, everyone's favorite - the Baby Bottom Cake! 'Cute' doesn't quite say it! We were all so delighted with it, it took up a good half an hour of conversation. And it tasted divine - lovely deep chocolate...yum. Hands down, choose a good baker and you've got 50% of a great party sorted.

Since we were such a varied bunch, we even manged to mix the festivities up a little. We had games, food, cake, chit chat, spoke about new mother experiences and then there were flowers. Some of the guests brought tons of flowers to adorn the to be mommy, virtually from head to toe! It's a tradition followed in some parts of India and one which was new to me as well.

This is one of my favorite shots of the flower series. It covered both our main guests. *smiles*

All in all, a great celebration. It's always helpful to remember that you can prepare for baby showers on any budget. Wild and lavish, or small and pocket friendly. It also makes sense to decide what parts of the shower you'd rather spend your money on. Think out of the box, find fun games to play and let each thing you plan have one sole aim in mind....to bring a smile to the New Mommy.

After all, this is the stuff memories are made of, right?

Mad Hatters Tea Party

I'm re-posting this .... to join Rajee Sood's tea party... Watch out for my official entry to this party next weekend...

I've invited a few friends on Friday for pretty tea party...*smiles* specially for Rajee's tea party.. I've been horribly busy with year end and the week ahead is buzzing as well... Rajee Sood is by far the guru of styling, design & decor in blog world!! ... Hop on to her stylish blog and join the party *smiles*

The best part of this 'Alice in Wonderland' ~ tea party.... was setting up the table...

.... we stacked tea cups... (with hearts!) on stack of books.... as decor!!

.... little lady bug chocolates were spread all over the table...

We sprinkled.... card shapes and other random glitter all over.... *smiles*

The kids were served 'hot chocolate' or 'apple juice' ... in these little ceramic tea cups... Oh.. they were so so thrilled!! *smiles*

*sigh*... I love these tea cups...

The centre piece... was a large stack of books... with a little tea pot on them!! The tea pot was filled with flowers... to make it look like a grand celebration... *smiles*

Mini cup cakes.... with card shapes... to go with the theme....

....... the cup cakes, the donuts & the cookies.... were a huge success!!

I'm linking in to a few blog parties!!

Hope you enjoyed seeing these pictures.... as much as I enjoyed setting up this table... And I sure hope my 6 year old... will remember her awesome birthday party!! *smiles*

Alice in Wonderland - Part 2

Hope you've read Part 1... so you know how we started the party!! .... the rabbit tracks got all the kids to the Garden of the Queen of Hearts... to play a few games!! They started with musical chairs....

..... then we played 'off with your head - 4 corners' (played like bombing the city)... the 4 corners were playing cards!!! You can see two of the corners on the top picture!!

We played... 'The Queen says' (like Simon says)...

Then we played a team game... 'toss the ball into the teapot or cup'.. This was fun... coz we gave the kids.. ping pong balls.. and they totally got frustrated coz they couldn't get the ball to go in!! *grin*

... and 'put a grin on the Cheshire cat' ....

We then tried our luck with the piñata.... The kids always get super excited with this!!

Once the games were over... We went to the Mad Hatters tea party.... Can you spot the cat on the top pictures (on the table)?... Here is where, we cut Yva's cake... which was in the shape of the Mad Hatters Hat!!

Can you see the paper lanterns the kids made... ? It was awfully windy for some reason.. so the paper lanterns didn't stick on the streamers... Anyhow.. We decorated with loads of carnival type decor... *smiles*... Anything and everything was good!!

The kids were served 'hot chocolate' & 'apple juice' (as tea), in tea pots.... poured in these little ceramic cups... They were so super thrilled!!

We surprised the birthday girl.. with an ice-cream van from Desert Chill... It was simply awesome.. !! I think at this point I was more excited than the kids... It was lovely to line up and buy ice-cream from a van... yay!!! *smiles*

We all wore t-shirts with 'Yva's wonderland' and a picture of her... just like we did for Sims birthday!!

The girls got a little ceramic tea set, pack of cards, Alice colouring book & an Alice In Wonderland story book with loads of candy and chocolates... to take home... The boy got 3D animal puzzles instead of the tea sets... and all the other goodies.. We are hoping at least a few kids will read the book now...

Overall ... we had a fabulous time!!
