The Weekly Story ~ wk 63

Hello my lovelies... How have you been?? I've had a rather stressful beginning to the new year.. *sigh*.. I'm hoping the weeks ahead get calmer... For this week, I truly had no inspiration or motivation to click pics or make any pretties... Rather, we spent Friday afternoon at the park .... BBQing, laughing, and just about doing nothing.. Was a lovely day!!

Here is a table beauty from last month ... Its the most simple thing to do... a glass, a candle, a few stones, and a flower in it... and isn't it pretty??

Candles always bring a cheer to my life... *smiles*..

Flowers.... oh flowers...

Here is wishing Sharon & Rekha from the Key Bunch a very happy anniversary. Say it with Flowers… is such a fabulous way to start another blogging year. Go on and join the carnival there!!

The girls and I do not pluck flowers… we believe that any flower looks most beautiful when connected to its plant. However, on my Friday morning walks, when people trim their plants and the rest are binned… The fresh flowers normally come home with me..

I’m also linking this to Pink Saturday and dedicating these flowers to all those who lost something on 9/11. Words are not enough to take the pain away… So I’m saying a little prayer and I hope you are as well.. to guide & give enough strength to heal the wounds.

This is my new inspiration – Lotus. I’m inspired by Padmaja. I’ll tell you why shortly….. (post coming up next week!!) But in the meanwhile, watch out for my ‘Lotus inspired living room’. It’s still in an early work in progress stage…. So if you’ve got any suggestions, either comment or email me on torresp27@hotmail.com

Also, dont forget to join my September Cozy Corners... *smiles*

Weekend bliss..

So how is your weekend??

This weekend was filled with cleaning, clearing.. There is a massive amount of junk that I need to get rid of prior to making a proper dekor plan….

Decorating a table is truly like painting a canvas… I’m no good at either… for me beautiful tables are simply made of flowers or candles…

The glass vase actually belongs to my friend, Sonja… This weekend, I decided it needs to stand tall on my table..

Oh… and finally I now have a round dinner table. I’ve been wanting one for the longest time… Little things can make me happy – round dining table, a few flowers.. and a few candles.. More pics of the dining table to follow… *smiles*

So are you gearing up for our ‘dekor discussions’?? I need some serious help!
Oh.. and I've been inspired as well... at the inspired room and table top tuesday!!

So here is me... passing on some of my weekend cheer to you...

I love flowers, in any colour.... in any shape.... in any container!!

Hope you all have a great weekend!!

Happy Onam

Happy Onam to all....

We went to my friend Unni & Sunila's house for Onam lunch. We had traditional food from Kerala and we ate on a banana leaf. I didn't carry my camera, so here are a pic from my mobile phone cam!!!

This is a beautiful flower arrangement that Sunila made.... and I will attempt to replicate in time for Diwali...

Thank you Unni & Sunila.... the food was excellent...
Its true that friends make celebrations colourful....

Love

While its February and we are still on the topic of love... I'd like to blog a few items that showcase love in my home. I've actually shortlisted the top three..

And the entrance of my home is this two-seater bench. A tiny mark on my wall, became a weekend project that turned into this lovely orange wall!! I would love to take the credit for painting it myself... but I did such an awful job that my brother Arafat had to do the amazing correction!! This is my favourite wall and I love experimenting with it... every now and then!

Here are the two hearts –

On the way to our bedroom (in the passage way) is the paintings of Radha-Krishna (my version of them!).Perhaps no other faith glorifies love like in India. Indeed its hard to miss the many legends and paintings that illustrates Krishna’s undying love for Radha. It is the most memorable of all times.

In my bedroom is this lovely work of art, by an artist unknown. It’s called ‘the music of love’! This was a christmas gift from my brother Sunil. Can you see the guitar??

Waiting to be decorated is my center table. As I love changing the dekor on it every now and then. Awaiting Valentines day are these lovely flowers and candles.

Some more posts on Valentines day to follow! Do let me know what you think !
