Store Finds

I'm taking you to Bangalore today.... to visit IndyaKaleidoscope

and this is what Preethi has to say....

A few years ago, travelling to different parts of the country on official assignments gave me tremendous insight into the rich culture of India. The love of traditional Indian handicrafts led me to the door steps of many artisans, who with little or no formal education, seemed to understand and create crafts that were in perfect harmony with nature.

A strong urge to leave behind the rat race and find a more meaningful life, gave birth to an idea - IndyaKaleidoscope. It took a while for the entire idea to shape up, research to back it up, a lot of soul searching and finally Indyakaleidoscope(IK) was registered in July 2011. Today, exactly three years from being just an idea, IK is working with seven different craft groups and two individual artisans and is providing them with a marketing face.

Our commitment is not only to our artisans, but also to our customers. Our motto is to make Indian handicrafts popular in every Indian home and make it available at an affordable price. The journey of Indyakaleidoscope has been made possible by the unshakable support of customers, friends and family. We hope to reach out to more craft communities and in the process fill a lot of homes with the joy of Indian crafts.

I welcome you to be a part of the IndyaKaleidoscope journey and experience.

... and here are a few things from the store.... that I want to bring home.... *smiles*...

And since... reds, oranges, Buddhas, peacocks... are my favourite... Can you see why I love this store so much... *smiles*...

Visit Indya Kaleidoscope and tell me what you think... *smiles*

Store Review ~ Entropy

I'm one of those people who admire talent... and am always amazed at people who follow their hearts and live their dreams...

On these t-shirts... rather.. in this t-shirt store.. is a story of two such amazing talents ~ Shruti & Shrada... Visit their store... and FB page Entropy!!

So when Shradha (the designer) laid her hands on a plain t-shirt and came up with a design which was simple yet interesting, the very first t-shirt “Start” was born. Soon their friends, cousins started asking for t-shirts and designs. Thats when they decided to broaden the horizon and start with a webstore for selling these. So came up ENTROPY, the name which was predefined for their first venture, whatever it might (we just love the sound of it…tech+geek+cool).

After this came days and hours of endless... testing t-shirts (quality, fitting, colors), webstore designs ~ sipping coffee till wee hours of the morning, Sketches (Shruti sketched almost every element of the website) planning, banks, registrations, deadlines (making and breaking), shoots, courier, Facebook/Twitter… list goes on.... and on....

Sticking true to their name, the designs and themes are not very well thought, they come up randomly when the designer (remember her name?) sits with a t-shirts.

And thats how an exclusive hand made t-shirt comes your way... *smiles*

Home Centre ~ makeovers

I've been really excited about the 'Home Makeover' contest that was being run by Home Centre... I've checked out some of the entries on their facebook pages, heard about them on the radio... etc... etc...

The makeovers are not always my kind of style... but there is so much to learn from each makeover... Today I'm going to share two of the winners and their makeover stories...

Watch this video how Abla's childhoom dream became a reality *smiles*.... Its really cute.. and her room has turned out beautifully too... It was her childhood dream just like any other girl... to have a bedroom that treats her like a queen...

The second make over winner is ~ Mohammed Rafiq Pilloor - Jubail, KSA

In the past nine years Pilloor had not had the chance to refresh or redo his bedroom. Having heard of the competition from his cousin in the UAE, Pilloor entered the contest and was one of the winners chosen from the top-voted entries. “I have a bedroom that is completely different and extremely beautiful. I love everything that the Home Centre team has done to renew my room - from the paint to the furniture selected and even the accessories. I will always remember this spectacular transformation and will recommend Home Centre to all,” said a satisfied and content Pilloor.

Get the Look: Comfortable Modern by Ann Hayward, Sr. Visual Merchandiser

Home Centre stylists took up the redesign of Pilloor’s small-sized room as a showcase of optimum utilization of space, infused with warmth and freshness. Earthy tones with combinations of fresh, crisp greens against the dark wood furniture completed the look.

Focus bed with storage; 5-door Focus wardrobe; Chicago shelf matched with Floxite bevelled mirror; Bianco floor lamp; Jubey table lamp; Yellow Dahlia wall décor with over-sized Natural wall décor; Savannah comforter set of 5 with pillow and cushion covers with neutral Bellagio fitted sheets complemented with assorted filled cushions; Alorsea vase and Clarence photo frames added some finishing touches.

Here are the before pics...

The winner with the Home Center team...

Now for the after...

Isn't that a real transformation.... It does have a 'wow' factor to it... *smiles*...
