My girls room

Girls are special... aren't they?

A daughter is a little girl who grows up to be a friend. ~Author Unknown

This room was completed last August... but I never got around to showing you pictures of the complete room... and completely forgot about it... An email yesterday, said... they'd like to see the full room... so here it is... for YOU!! Hope you like it *smiles*

The ballerina's were stencilled on the wall and then carefully hand painted with acrlyic paints & glitter... Thank you Ramie, Reshma & Rachel ... for instantly acting on my plans... *smiles*

There are a total of five ballerinas on one wall... with the pretty pink one in the center.... and gold dotted lines connecting... them...

The day bed below was changed to white.. We picked this one up from the 'As Is' section in IKEA... for next to nothing... But the black colour didn't look too good... so we changed this to white.. Thank you Ashwin... for joining my committee of elves..

The other three walls of the room... has butterflies in different colours... They enter from outside the room.. and seem to be flying all over ...

.... connected with turquoise dotted lines... These butterflies were also stencilled on the wall by Ramya, Reshma, Rachel & Rose...

Here is a closer look...

This cabinet below... was old... I think we had it for 10 years or so.... beige in colour.. and morbid... *grin*

Ramya, Rose, Ashwin, Simone & Yvonne (my girlies) painted a this beautiful butterfly garden on it... Now it looks like a 'happy cabinet'..

The frame is a gift ... and is made by Ramya... The hand prints are of my girls in rainbow colours ... a few years ago... The hands have obviously grown now.. *sob*

The bookshelf was designed.. by me.. *smiles*... to go into the slot in their bedroom...

Linking into a few blog parties..

Do you like my girls butterfly - ballerina room??

Project 1 - the happy room

Before the end of August and after I return from my holidays, this is going to be my first project. (ie first project in the new house). I thought I should make a start from somewhere and the girls room would be the best place to start. As my girlies sure know what they want. One of my earliest posts, was of their princess room in the old house…. But that was years ago, when we were mad about princesses, but now much to their mothers dislike, they’ve moved to the age of Hannah Montana.

This is their name tile, that I picked from Malaysia

Here are a few images from their room. I’m looking forward to making it a pretty, colourful and a generally happy room. Not inclined towards pink or purple. Catching their dreams…

I’m going to draw and paint butterflies flying from outside the room to inside… and throughout the room in all pretty colours.

The black day bed in this picture will be turned to white.

Oh… the new bookshelf is something I designed to fit in to the space available.. This cabinet will be coloured white and we hope to paint flowers and butterflies on it… somehow *smiles* The intention is to allow the girls to paint the flowers on this cabinet… So they have something to be proud of..

This is the room in total, the walls will have butterflies and other happy stuff. I know its in a mess, but I had no time to clean and clear last night.

Somewhere here… will be some blackboard paint… for them to be creative on…
We are not going to be painting one wall, but do little bits and pieces everywhere… butterflies, flowers, garden…. Etc.. etc.. Any suggestions.... more than welcome...

Closer look at their happy blinds..

I’m linking this in to Bev’s Pink Saturday… Simply coz I'm falling in love with pink...
Oh.. and while you are here don’t forget to check the August table tops and join in the party if you haven't already.

Princess in every girl

Here I share my weekend project - my kids room. It took a few months of bargain hunting for some pretty stuff to renovate this room. Most of my weekend projects are intiated by my friend - Rose. So she is solely to blame for my spoilt kids.

Welcome to Dreamland... it reads on the door of the room...

The walls were painted on two sides and wall papered on one side about two years ago. All we did was accessorise.

The floral lamp!! with princesses on either side. The wall hanging frame was made by Ramya two years ago. Its lovely!! below it hangs the princess mirror!!

Mirror ! Mirror on the wall... who is the fairest of them all??

We stuck princess stickers all over the cupboards!

The girls sofa cum bed with the princess pink canopy, with the backdrop of the purple wall..

Through the canopy - Cinderella...
Canopy close up... and personal!

The lamp... that I instantly fell in love with..

More pictures of my home... in the next post!! Keep reading!
