Perfectly Mismatched

I love this little garden party set up with mismatched chairs.  Bringing indoor furniture outside is a great look for a summer get-together.

(I credit Monica Geller for first making mismatched chairs cool, btw.)

Craigslist is a great source if you want to pick up some odd chairs to recreate a similar look.  You can often find chairs in odd numbers for a really great price.  I just saw three of these, for example, on my local Craigslist for $20 each:

And, another listing for three side chairs and one armchair that would only need some new fabric:

And, you can always paint them for a quick update.  Remember the chairs I bought for our old dining room for $12 a piece?  You know I believe spray paint can fix anything.

Home Improvements?

Maybe I have a bad case of spring fever, but I've been rearranging furniture and lamps (and whatever else I can get my hands on like it's nobody's business).  Once I start, it's hard to stop, and one mess leads to another. . . .

This was the state of my "improvement" as of yesterday mid-morning:

I'm making progress--if you want to call it that.  My living room got a new paint job, we switched the sofas, the lamps moved in from the den, and I'm still trying to figure out if I want to keep that armoire.  (A piano is most likely in our future. . . )  I also have pictures and window treatments left to hang.

In the spirit of spring cleaning, I'm also ready to move out the pieces I'm no longer using.  I listed some things on Craigslist last night, including our red chair and ottoman and this round ZGallerie coffee table (sorry for the old, fuzzy picture).  Fingers crossed for a speedy sale by the weekend!
