The Weekly Story ~ wk 89

Hello my lovelies... Good Morning... Hope you are having a gorgeous Monday....

My two weeks of 'me' time passed by even before I could open my first ideas of DIY ... LOL... I'm away now for two weeks... on a little holiday *smiles*...

But I'll be talking to you today, about Lights ~ on The Makeover series ....

You’ll be pleasantly surprised as to how small lights and accent lights not only make a big difference to the ambiance of a room, but also change the environment and mood completely. Lights can rejuvenate your spirit and the best part about candle light, is that it can be moved around to make instant changes every now and then.

A few strategically-placed lamps can add some dimension to a room and enhance the living space. Play with different types of light bulbs to get just the right amount of illumination you want for each room. Light dimmers can also help to change up the ambiance and mood in a certain area.

Pendant lights or Moroccan lamps also add a spectacular note of glamour when placed right at the entrance. Fairy lights instantly create magic… anywhere and everywhere! So use them lavishly in your garden, living room, entrance way, kids room… you name it and they'll instantly wow things up.

Isn't it magical.... *smiles*

When you are contemplate garden lights, give the option of solar lights a long thought. It's the perfect way to go green!

I'll come visit you in two weeks.... Till then... do join in The Weekly Story' linky party ~ open from Monday through Wednesday every week..

The weekly story ~ wk 85

Happy Monday to you all... How have you been? July is the start of our summer holidays in Dubai. This means the kids are at home .. *sigh*... and there is constant planning on things to do...

Well... I'm hoping July will be calmer and I can talk to you about some random decor ideas!!

I've been thinking of giving the home a new look... add some colour to its existing glamour *grins*

So today, I'll show you another little corner of my home.... The little coke bottle came all the way from London... My friends know Im mental about stuff like this...

This is where most guys enjoy their tete-a-tete ... The corner that I call our home bar... *smiles*

These uncomfortable chairs were intentional ... just so that I didn't have a few anti-social ones... However these hardly deter the dudes from spending hours here...

I designed the big brown cabinet you see at the back... to hold our wine cooler... It does look lovely when the lights are on... pic for another time.. *smiles* Do you like what you see?

Here is my little lamp from IKEA... I love that one.. I got it with the intention to paint... but .. but..

Oh.. and these are from 12 years ago... Our little memento... *smiles* ... They remind me of Nigel (Amit's best buddy).... who is no more... As he raised the toast on our wedding day... he was super nervous... and I simply couldn't help but laugh... *giggles*

I promise to visit you all this week... But in the meanwhile, do pop in and say hello...

Weekend news..

I had a great weekend… wandered into Home Center on Friday to find this…

Gosh.. I have such a soft corner for lanterns.. I can’t tell you!! Even worst.. this was on sale for AED 2.50 (which is less than USD 1)… So what would you do if you were in my place??!!

Exactly!!! There were 10 on the rack.. and I picked them all… *smiles*

And I asked the shop keeper for more… but they didn’t have any.. There was one green one.. So I just had to pick that up as well.. Why put someone else through the grief of finding this one piece and searching for more.. like I did??!!

The girls and I … had to test them.. as soon as we got them home… So we put candles in them.. and hung them off the branches of the trees in our garden..

As the sunset they looks stunning…

Now.. on Saturday, I happened to be in another Home Center.. and saw the same things in Red, Green & Aqua… The red was gorgeous and they had only 4 pieces… So I simply had to buy them.. *smiles*

I'm enjoying the MM & MM & Outdoor Wednesday posts...
This morning, I had a thought… I’d probably need more for Diwali & Christmas.. I should go back and buy a few of the Aqua ones as well… What do you think??

Happy Diwali to all

These are candles that brighten my house for the festival of lights...

The colours are pink & orange this year... I'll do a seperate post on that..

This one is special... can you spot the shells.. they've arrived all the way from Maldives!!

Another look.... spot the shells now..

I was running out of time... so my (going to be) 7 year old was incharge of the balcony... this is what she got her dad to do...

Hope you all are having a great celebration... Happy Diwali to all!!

Lamps & Lights

I am a true admirer of lamps & candles… infact just light in general… in any form.

Here I’m sharing a few pics from Bab Al Shams yesterday. The lamps & lights so oriental & traditional and just beyond beautiful…

I’d love to have some of these in my home…. What about you??

Lighting your home

Lamps are now a significant part of home décor. A small lamp can truly change the ambience and mood of your whole home. I’m not a tube light person at all. I don’t know why??!!

Different rooms surely have different requirements. But just by using an appropriate form of lighting a space can instantly turn from boring to a cosy appealing one.

Here are a few images of the different forms of lights in my home!

A lamp from IKEA in the background…
These look like a bouquet of flowers by day… and change into lights by night -

This was a Christmas gift. The vase is brownish on top and turquoise at the bottom. Didn’t kind of go with my home… so at first I tried giving it away. As we were removing our Christmas decorations…. This stuck me!!! Put the tree lights in the vase… and voila was my new lamp! This now being my favourite lamp.

One more for the table –

I just love this lamp… and the reflections on the wall –

In the balcony – (work still under process).

I just love candles and lamps… Hence more posts to follow !!
Do you have a unique lamp or a elegant idea turned into a lamp… Do share it with me on torresp27@hotmail.com
