As you can see... the sketches are truly impressive......

Slowly filling in the colours....

Wall art

You've seen the peacock wall in the old home.... Inspired by the creativity of that weekend, we ventured out to do something different this time...

The idea was to get a graffiti kind of look in the background... But for now... I have no motivation to complete this... Infact I'm thinking of painting the wall white again and waiting for motivation to come my way...

A complete view... The painting is incomplete, so don't judge *smiles*.... The right side has a few sketches that have not even been painted...

If I found the motivation to do the outlines and the shading... it would look better... but for now... NO!! That ain't happening!!

I sure hope you like it... Please be very polite with your comments... and I'm already enough upset about this wall... *sobs*...

Hey... but 2012... will probably bring a new inspiration my way!! *smiles*

Floral Wall Art

I visited Mumbai last week, after a whole one and a half years !! Tough to believe, but true! I was there for my husband's cousin's wedding - it was so refreshing to be amidst all the cousins and folks :) For the first time I found peace in chaos, literally - quite strange, coming from a person who highly values and loves her personal space :P

I had the wall art decoration plan on my mind for a very long time but I'm quite glad that I was able to achieve it in a span of couple of days.. working for random snatches of time each day. I wish I had clicked pics as I was drawing and creating it, but well - this is what I have :) :)

I decorated this particular wall, which is at the entrance to our apartment in Mumbai, where my inlaws live currently. This particular wall was looking quite plain and I thought it was time to liven it up a bit. I thought up the design and also drew it in a matter of half n hour. The painting and shading bit is what took ages, resulting in severely sore arms :P

A natural setting...

Rich with vibrant colours

From a different angle

And finally, from the angle that it looks the best!!

I just loved the final effect. Worth every sore muscle, and every minute of my time and passion spent!! What did you feel?

Walls with Character

I cant stop talking about walls…. Can I?? You’ve seen my peacock wall… which is my all time favourite… This one… ‘My Wall of Frames’… *smiles* is another special one… Close to my heart!! ... coz I’m not someone who can easily put two frames on one wall… I’d rather paint, than drill and hang!!! Do you have the same feeling??

This one took a while to prepare…. a long time to comfort my heart… that a few holes in the wall only mean a beautiful wall… *smiles* Then came the decision of which wall to do this with?? The wall that we choose had a/c & light controls… How do we incorporate that into a frame wall??

A true labour of love… from start to finish!! All the photographs are clicked by ‘moi’ during our holiday to Jaipur last year and of course some of my favourite photographs… The first step was deciding what I really wanted to do with the wall…. Then the hunt for frames began!! Once I had all the frames… I printed the photographs… Then laid them out of the floor… the way they’d be finally on the wall… That started a series of arranging, re-arranging, viewing… viewing from different angles.. and finally… this is what came out of it….

Oh… The lovely traditional door …. That you see is an exquisite piece of work… artistic and intricate!! I needed something to hide the light switches and the a/c controls on this wall… So off I went hunting for a perfect door… When I saw this…. In my favourite antique shop in Karama… my jaw nearly dropped!! I simply had to buy it….

The wall came together bit by bit…. The individually hand picked frames, the colourful frames, the tambourine, the door, the photographs… Each item to suit the tones & hues.. not only of the pictures but of the room they are housed in as well…

Do you know what’s behind the piece de resistance – that tambourine? Do you?? Take a wild guess?? The A/C controls… Don’t you think that’s a fantastic idea?? Take a closer look and you’ll see them… the door hanging conceals the light switches and the tambourine conceals the a/c controls…

What do you think? Ideas… suggestions… comments… scope for improvement?? Bring it on!!

Wall Project 2

I’ve always dreamt of a Bollywood wall… My cousin went hunting in Mumbai for these posters… and I was thrilled to see them… I’d open them, stare at them, wonder where it would look perfect…. then pack them up again…

When the Film Fare ME office offered us their walls… I was super thrilled!! Couldn’t think of a more perfect place for my posters… We painted the wall an earthy colour…. This was the easy task…

Then stuck posters on the wall… We arranged them on the floor first… then stuck them up with double sided tape….

All in all … a lot of fun.. and a fulfilment that I simply cant explain!! The finished wall… simply is my type!! The kind I always dreamt of…

I'm linking in to these fabulous link parties!

Do you like it?? Any scope for improvement? Let me know…. I’d love to do one of these at home… but cant seem to find an appropriate wall… *smiles*

Walls with Character ~ Shruti

Have you seen the craftiest blog ~ Mindful Meandering…. Here is featuring Shruti’s walls with character….

When we bought our apartment we wanted one room to be kept absolutely empty for Lil P to play in. We kept the floor area clear of any toys or furniture as she was still a crawling toddler back then.

But we also wanted the room to be fresh and colourful. My daughter loves flowers & butterflies. We wanted to incorporate that in a room that was entirely hers.

We bought vinyl wall decals and put them up on the walls ourselves. It took us 2 hrs to set it up and my daughter loved it. Though we no longer stay in that house and had to (unfortunately) leave the wall decals as is, I'm happy to have our tenant's daughter enjoy the same room now.

Isn't that the cutest??? What do you think?

Walls with Character ~ Anu

Hello my lovelies.... this series of 'in the spot light'... was meant to finish by end of Feb... however, I've got a few more walls to show you... so this will blend into March as well... *smiles*... The intention was also to complete two walls at home before this series ended... .. However, that's now a dream... So when I get it done.. *sigh*... 'when'!!... I'll talk about this later...

Today I'm showing you... Anu's wall... overflowing with character... She blogs at a fleeting glimpse!! ~ Over to Anu!!

Both hubby and I are huge fans of comics, starting with Tintin and Calvin & Hobbes to Frank Miller. So this one wall in our room is pretty much comics all the way! The framed Tintin series is from an old calendar. We cut out the pictures only and had them laminated. Tintin and Asterix postcards are framed. Comics (and some other books) stacked up in the shelf...and there's an Obelix ceramic plate in the shelf on the left.

Now... isn't this fabulous!! Hope all these walls have inspired you to do something in your home... and whenever you do... don't forget to share it with me!! *smiles*

Walls with Character ~ Anjum (Kids room)

You've seen the creative Anjum's living room wall... Now check out what she did for her little baby!! Anjum... you totally rock!!

Over to Anjum

We wanted to make Z a different nursery. Not the typical Winnie the Pooh, Mickey/Minnie or Disney Princesses room. Initially we wanted to paint either stripes or polka dots but after some research we discovered wall decals and were fascinated by the ideas! We found a couple of places in Dubai that do decals but they didn't have what we were looking for so we customer ordered all the decals from the US. We chose to have two decals on opposite walls and littler ones around the room.

Walls with Character ~ Emreen

I simply love it... when people make most of the space or area they have... and create something gorgeous... in their own little way... Here are a few walls from Emreen - who blogs at Liven Things Up ...

These pictures are taken from my parent's home. This is in their bedroom, the picture of the 2 birds sitting on a tree branch are a grouping of tiles, that was selected by me when I was in my school days, and the borders (black, ash and gold combination) are from a different set of tiles..

Here is a close up of the same pic...

These are open shelves (thick glass cut in the shape of arc) placed between two walls, where a vase with artificial flowers is placed..

Actually these shelves are placed 1 feet below the ceiling in the living room, dining room etc..., so that they dont consume any space and can be used for displaying anything of your interest....
