I've been working with a client on making their "playroom" a space the whole family can enjoy. Although we're not quite finished, I snapped a few pictures while I was there over the weekend and thought you might like to see where we are with the makeover. . .
This is part of the original plan:
warm walls, a comfy sofa, a large upholstered ottoman and some fun fabrics.
Trust me when I say I felt right at home the first time I walked into the space. I have a very similar room in my house that's never made its way to the blog :)
After paint, a new window treatment, new upholstery, and some extra storage:
Since a playroom will inevitably have plenty of items you don't want to see all of the time, we used a curtain to divide the space and "hide" some of the girls' toys. I originally showed the client this page from an older Better Homes & Gardens for inspiration:
One of our main projects over the weekend was recovering this solid ottoman from Target with a bright, lattice fabric. The online selection of patterned ottomans is pretty slim, and this was a much less expensive option than ordering a custom piece.
We also worked on laying out a gallery wall arrangement for some of their family photographs that will go above this piece (a consignment shop find; don't you love all of the pulls?):
A few more tweaks and I'll hopefully get to share the finished room with you soon. . .
