I knew I wanted our Christmas tree in our family room so we could enjoy it every day, but that meant rearranging some of our furniture. You may remember this is the layout we started with. . .

We ended up putting the Christmas tree to the right of the fireplace and putting the pair of slipcovered chairs side by side, directly in front of the TV.
The room isn’t huge and on paper, this plan probably looks too crowded. But in real life, it makes the room feel so much cozier and gives more of us a direct view of the TV, which is always a good thing. This arrangement also gives us room to add more seating with another chair and some lighting in the corner, once the Christmas tree is gone.
I also moved in a smaller coffee table and layered the faux cowhide rug over our jute for warmth.
I hesitated to even post pictures of our living room. There are so many things I want to change, but hopefully you’ll enjoy the process of seeing the room evolve over time. See that ceiling fan reflected in the mirror below? It’s next on my list! (Along with changing out the mirror over our mantel, new pillows for the sofa, lamps, aaaaghhhhh. . . . Like I said, it’s going to be a process. Hang around and see.)
