Julia (who writes one of my favorite blogs, Hooked on Houses) featured the home of designer Roger Hazard earlier this week, and I love how he used extra tall board and batten, painting the top of the walls and ceiling a dark contrasting color:

It adds instant architecture, and the dark ceiling gives the room such a cozy feel. He used the same technique in other rooms, although I don’t love it quite as much with the lighter color paint on top.
