When we bought our house last year, we were still “in talks” about baby #4. Well, you know how that turned out. . . . We fell in love with the house, not really worried that it only had three bedrooms. We loved its character, the big yard, the playroom, the peaceful neighborhood. It was exactly the kind of house where we wanted to raise our family and we knew right away. In fact, it was the only house we looked at.

And, it’s the house we plan to stay in—which means, some creative thinking when it comes to where to put “all of our kids” once the babies arrive next month. Since there’s only so much I can think about before they’re born, we’ve decided to put both babies in our master bedroom for a while. Fortunately, the room is spacious enough to accommodate two cribs. So, for those of you who’ve asked about what the nursery will look like, that’s the unexciting answer :)
The whole family got in on setting up the crib we already have. Kind of sad to see your babies helping set up the crib they used to sleep in. Know what I mean?

I’m hoping keeping them in our room will also help with their daytime sleeping schedules, buffering them from the rest of the chaos in the house. And, to be honest, the thought of decorating a nursery isn’t as thrilling as it once was. It’s used for such a short time, and I’m big and tired at this point. :(

We are getting a second crib—similar, not the same—and putting them both in our bedroom’s bay window. I’ve said before that I like the idea of using every inch of your house, and lucky for me, I’m getting my wish :) And, I like having the babies close by. I’m always the one who cries when my husband rolls their bassinets out of our room after the first few months. . . .

I’m still hoping to make their little corner of the house special, although I’ve done absolutely NOTHING so far. We’re starting this week—really. Maybe some fun sheets, two cute mobiles, a small rug? I’m not completely sure yet, but considering the countdown is on, I’ll be making (and sharing) these decisions with you in the near future.
