I’m continuing my monthly “Send Me a Picture” posts with a group of designers/bloggers who are already participating in another fun blog series called “The One-Room Challenge.” Each of the bloggers featured (plus several others) are working to complete a room for themselves or a client over the summer and are blogging their updates each Wednesday.
Today, however, I asked each of them to be my guest and share a personal photograph that best describes their summer style. I got so many pretty pictures that I’m posting part of them today and the rest tomorrow. Enjoy!
My Summer style is defined by mixing major color, pattern and texture. Honestly, there can never be too much of any of those elements in a Summer setting.

I created this pink painting and paired it with a smaller blue ikat painting to incorporate my favorite summer preppy color combination, pink & blue, into my entryway! I also added in some Chinoiserie pieces with fresh greens and swapped out my dark Persian rug for the brighter black and white kilim style. I love the fresh summery feel!

When I think of summer, I think of spray-painting. Until recently, I lived in New Jersey, where the temperatures in late fall, winter and early spring are not conducive to spray painting outdoors. Summer to me means dragging out my tarps and all the painting projects I have been hoarding over the winter. Luckily, now that we've moved to California the summer painting season is much longer.

Even though I live in the Midwest, I am a California girl when it comes to creating outdoor living spaces during the warmer months...I love seamless indoor/outdoor living and I've created a number of outdoor rooms that we access easily through French doors that stay open as much as possible so that we use our outdoor spaces as much as our indoor "living" rooms when the weather permits!

Some of my fondest memories growing up in the South are sitting on my Grandmother's front porch in Greenville, Alabama. She would slather Vicks Vapor Rub on me so I wouldn't get mosquito bites! I don't worry about the mosquitoes really any more ... also don't want to smell like Vicks! But nothing evokes summer to me more than my wicker sofa ... a Brimfield find ... and my fabulous new cushions made from Duralee's Poppy Red Indoor Outdoor fabric , a glass of white wine and catching up on my design magazines. Every moment I can spend outside in the summer feeds my soul!

My Summer style is casual, comfortable & colorful. For me, summer is the time to spend long days and late nights in the garden. It's time to relax and enjoy to view.

I enjoy changing up the mantel in our dining room throughout the seasons and Summer by far is my favorite! We recently added the tongue and groove planking on the fireplace wall and painted it a crisp white. I keep the glass hurricanes on the mantel year round, and for Summer I like to mix in blue and white jars, shells and baskets.

In this is an area of my house, which is very easy to change, I replaced the throw, the pillow and did a very quick [and sloppy it appears] upholstery on the small stool with some extra fabric. Everything else remains neutral which will allow me to change it again in a day in a few months when fall arrives.
