My poor (oldest) boy. He sadly told me that his was the only room that I hadn’t done anything to since we moved in. (My kids are so mistreated . . .) Actually, he’s right. I didn’t do anything to it because I just wasn’t sure of our plan. Eventually, he’ll probably move to another spot in the house, but he deserves to have a happy space for now. So, the plan is to do a redo, with no permanent changes and for as little money as possible.
The Etsy shop Alexander Creative asked me if I would like one of their Jeremiah 29:11 posters. As soon as I saw it, I knew this was a great starting point for the room. (And, what a great promise for our kids—and ourselves.)
I’ve also been borrowing from other parts of the house. I moved the parsons desk from the entry and the Tolix chairs from my office so he could finally have the little workspace in his room that he’s been asking for. (My kids think this is so much fun. They’ve been using it to play school here for hours.) At some point, I plan to hang the pictures on a different wall and make a big bulletin board for this spot:
(Notice the walls? Sherwin Williams Shoji White strikes again. I also used it here and here. I decided to keep it neutral since I don’t have a plan and am kind of making this up as I go along. . . )
And, you might remember I ordered a Dash & Albert plaid rug from here on a whim. Just in case you’re wondering, I’m really happy with it. (I also found an ALREADY ASSEMBLED Hemnes chest of drawers in the clearance section at Ikea! Anyone who has assembled a piece of their furniture knows why this is exciting.)
So, that’s a start. And, nobody feels neglected.
