Sale Alert: Sunburst Mirror

This mirror is huge at 48” in diameter.  A mirror this size at this price is pretty hard to find.  I’ve never been completely happy with the size of the mirror above our mantel and ordered it for this spot a few days ago.  (Crossing my fingers this is going to look as great as I think it’s going to. . . )

I had a little DIY project planned to make our black mirror bigger that involved 150 paint sticks, spray paint, hot glue and a lot of measuring.  That all went out the window when I saw this one on sale.

 

 

While not cheap, here is why I think this mirror is worth every penny:

 

I’ve already said this, but the size alone makes it a statement piece.  And, I like using an oversized mirror (or piece of art) above a mantel because you really don’t have to worry too much about accessorizing it beyond that.  (This photo shows the mirror in an online client’s family room that I blogged about here.)

 

 

 

Every room needs layers of different textures, and I like the various wood tones of this piece.  I had initially thought about painting it, but I think I’ll hang it for a while and see how it works in our room before I do anything crazy.

 

 

 

 

While there are lots of tutorials out there for making knock-off versions of this mirror (just search Pinterest), I’m willing to spend the extra money here because I know that this is something I’ll most likely have hanging in our house for a long time.  It also makes me feel better knowing that I won’t have paint sticks falling off on my head for years to come. . . 

In general, if you feel confident in what you like, go with it.  I have come to terms with my love of sunburst mirrors, and I’m good with that :)
